QUOTE:
I was almost to that part of the conversation where I was ready to tell him to drop the topic or find somebody else to eat lunch with, something I threatened him with at least once every meal we shared, when his gaze told me someone had entered the restaurant.

I turned in my seat to see the subject matter of our heated debate striding across the room. Striding. God damn, can that man not just fucking walk anywhere? And in that cursed Preventers uniform. It's true what they say about men in uniform. Oh dear God, it is so true.

"Tongue back in your mouth, Duo," Quatre whispered through his teeth in that sweet little singsong way he has.

"Shut the fuck up, Quatre," I replied, just as sweet, and almost as singsong, and definitely through gritted teeth mimicking a smile.

He snickered softly and I wondered again if he wasn't some kind of closet sadist.

WHY I LIKE THAT FIC:
Ah another one of those Quatre-plays-matchmaker fics. Oh I love them when they are well-written! And let me tell you, Sunhawk really did a great job at that! I love her take on the G-boys! She has such a great writing-style, especially when using the first person narrator. It's always a pleasure reading her Duo or Heero POV's.

So what about this fic? Well, it's short, funny and it's a get together fic. I love the slight awkwardness here, the funny misunderstandings. Sunhawk's descriptions of awkward situations are wonderful. You simply have to laugh because what she describes are really just plain things that happen out of a misinterpreted communication. You sit there and you are laughing with your hand over your mouth thinking "OMG. That's so awkward!" These situations don't appear constructed or ridiculously overdone or something. No, they feel normal and natural. Nonetheless it makes you laugh.

I love the way she lets Duo and Heero confess their feelings for each other, because it's not your usual "Heero, man, I love you! Have so for as long as we've known each other" confession. Nope, this is different, beautifully written without being fluffy or sappy.

Just read "Head Games". I'm sure you won't regret it!
